FOSWS (Friends of Sebert Wood School) are a small group of parents/carers who get together to raise funds for the school (more commonly known as a PTA).  All profits made from our events go back into the school to help with additional purchases which benefit all the children whilst they have fun along the way.

Our current Chair is Nina Dallorzo

Vice Chair is Debra Peachey

Secretary is Liz Rahim

Treasurer is Kathryn Watts

Our events are a lot of fun and very rewarding to see the children enjoying themselves.  There is a lot of hard work and organisation going into each event.  The main events are the Christmas and Summer Fairs, discos, cake sales, to name but a few.  We also help the school with sponsored events.

This year we have funded the new Reception garden and playground paintings, paid for year 2 to go to the Pantomime at the Theatre Royal, subsidised school trips (which we do every year), various pieces of sports equipment i.e. table tennis table and many other  exciting projects throughout the School.

If you’d like to get involved, even for just half an hour at an event, please email  We meet on the first Monday of each month to discuss and prepare for events and also ways to spend the money for the school.

FOSWS Update

The Sebert Wood Summer Fair is not far away!

This year the Fair will be held on FRIDAY 6TH JULY, from 3.45pm to 6.30pm.

We’ve got lots lined up for this year’s Fair such as:

– Performances from the Sebert Singers and Dancing Stars

– Inflatable Obstacle Course and Bouncy Castles

– BBQ, Refreshments and bar, including an American candy stall

– Lots of fun games including, the one all pupils love, Soak the Teacher!

– Plus lots more!

Each class will also be running their own games stall.  For Reception and Years 1-4, please look out for signup sheets, as we will need parents to volunteer and help run the stall for a 30 minute slot with their child.  Children in Years 5&6 will be asked to volunteer for their stall, and a permission slip will be sent home with your child should they wish to stay after school to help.

Calling all bakers!  We will be having a cake stall this year which always proves extremely popular!  Any donation you can make to this, either homemade or shop bought is most welcome.  For all homemade cakes, we ask if these could please be NUT FREE. However, with shop bought cakes, we are unable to guarantee that these are truly nut free as many state “May contain traces of nuts”.  These will be signposted on the day.  If you are able to donate, please drop off any donations in the Community Room (next to Nursery) on the morning of the Fair.

THURSDAY 5TH JULY will be “Bring a Bottle to School” for all children, in exchange for them being able to dress down on Friday 6th July for the Fair.  All donations will then be used as prizes for the Tombola.  This could be ANY bottle, so whether its beer, wine, soft drinks, bubble bath, or olive oil, all donations are welcome – all we ask is that they are in date!  These can be dropped off at the Community Room on the Thursday morning (next to Nursery).

Raffle tickets will be coming home with your children very soon so, please sell to your friends, family and neighbours.  We have some great prizes including:-

– £50 cash

– £100 swimming voucher

– Planet Laser voucher

– Glasswells rug

– Toymaster voucher

– High Lodge Passes

– All Over Beauty gift bag

– Chilford Hall wine tour

And much more!!

Please return the raffle ticket stubs and money in an envelope to the School office marked Raffle Tickets and include any unsold tickets. Please could these be returned by MONDAY 2ND JULY.

As with any event, the Summer Fair can only go ahead if we have enough volunteers to help out, whether this is with set up before the event, a slot on one of the stalls, or helping pack away afterwards. Please look out for the signup sheets in the next few weeks outside the classrooms and Front Office.

All the money raised from these events goes back into the School.  So far this year we have helped to subsidise school trips, provide funding towards the new sensory garden, purchased the School a stage, a camera to take pictures of important events, an electric piano, outdoor picnic tables and Lego for all KS1 classes and many other useful resources.  After the success of the Box2bfit Friday, we have purchased the kit to keep in School to carry on the exciting and fun exercise.

We look forward to seeing you at the Fair and be lucky in the raffle!
