FOSWS

 

FOSWS (Friends of Sebert Wood School) are a small group of parents/carers who get together to raise funds for the school (more commonly known as a PTA).  All profits made from our events go back into the school to help with additional purchases which benefit all the children whilst they have fun along the way.

Treasurer is Kathryn Watts

 

Our events are a lot of fun and very rewarding to see the children enjoying themselves.  There is a lot of hard work and organisation going into each event.  The main events are the Christmas and Summer Fairs, discos, cake sales, to name but a few.  We also help the school with sponsored events.

If you’d like to get involved, even for just half an hour at an event, please email FOSWSteam@gmail.com.  We meet on the first Monday of each month to discuss and prepare for events and also ways to spend the money for the school.

 

 

 

FOSWS Update – 27 September 2019 

Dear Parents/Carers

Firstly, Friends of Sebert Wood School (FOSWS) would like to introduce ourselves, especially to the new parents/carers.  We are a small group of parents/carers who arrange various fundraising events to bring extra funds into Sebert Wood to enhance the children’s learning in a fun way.   We hold a meeting, generally on the first Monday of each month, to discuss ways of raising funds and also ways of spending them.  The meetings are held in a relaxed environment at the Ember Inn on Moreton Hall.  We are always looking for new ideas and volunteers to help us carry out our fundraising, so please pop along or email us.

Our AGM is being held on Monday 7th October at Ember Inn at 7.30 pm where we will be looking to re-elect the Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. It would be great to see as many new and existing members attend this meeting.

We would like to say a big THANK YOU to those of you who have supported us in our fundraising by baking, volunteering at our events or even turning up!  All these things contribute to our pot, which goes back into the School for the benefit of our children.  

In the last school year we raised an amazing £11,297.25!!

The Tech Trail event, which was to raise funds for IPads, raised enough, along with matched funds from FOSWS, to purchase 20 new ones!  The School’s goal was 10. So to double the amount was great, as this will help more children have access to interactive learning.

The ways in which some of the money has been spent is:-

Year 2 Theatre Royal panto (this is ongoing for year 2)

Annual contribution to trips and activities

Individual CD players for Library

Willow tunnel materials

SATS breakfast (ongoing for year 6)

Numicon for whole school to enhance maths learning

Parasols and many other items
