Friends of Sebert Wood School

FOSWS are a group of parents who get together to raise funds for the school (more commonly known as a PTA). All profits made from our events go back into the school to help with additional purchases.

Our current chair is Rachael Smith with Debra Peachey as our vice-chair.  Kathryn Watts is the treasurer with Nina D'Allorzo as our secretary.

In the past, we have raised money to provide outside play equipment, the Pavilion (or outside classroom), computers and books. In addition, annually we provide each year group with a sum of money for them to spend how they wish, usually towards school trips or on specific equipment for their year. We also purchase the turkey at Christmas to enable the cost of Christmas dinner to stay at the normal price. Our current project is to help with the update of the ICT equipment in school.

Our events are a lot of fun (and hard work!) to organise and ones of note are the Summer and Christmas Fairs, Movie Nights (who knew the children would enjoy so much coming back to school to watch a film!), Discos and overnight Camps on the school field! We have also assisted the school with Sponsored events.

If you want to get involved, please come along to one of meetings – the dates are on our Newsletters, or contact us on: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Please contact the FOSWS email address for details of our next meeting.

 SUMMER FAYRE 2017 - Friday 7th July 3.45 - 6.30pm.

The Sebert Wood Summer Fayre is not far away!  This year the Fayre will be held on Friday 7th July, from 3.45pm to 6.30pm.

We've got lots lined up for this year's Fayre such as:

    • Performances from the Sebert Singers and Dancing Stars
    • Inflatable Obstacle Course and Bouncy Castles
    • Kinetic Science where the children can build and launch their own Rocket!
    • Poppy's Farm Petting Zoo
    • BBQ, Refreshments and bar
    • Lots of fun games including Nerf Gun Range and Soak the Teacher.
    • Plus lots more!

Each class will also be running their own games stall.  For Reception and years 1-4 please look out for signup sheets, as we will need parents to volunteer and help run the stall for a 30 minute slot with their child.  Children in years 5&6 will be asked to volunteer for their stall, and a permission slip will be sent home with your child should they wish to stay after school to help.

Calling all bakers!  We will be having a cake stall this year which always proves extremely popular!  Any donation you can make to this, either homemade or shop bought is most welcome.  For all homemade cakes, we ask if these could please be nut free. However, with shop bought cakes we are unable to guarantee that these are truly nut free as many state "May contain traces of nuts".  These will be signposted on the day.  If you are able to donate, please drop off any donations in the Community Room (next to Nursery) on the morning of the Fayre.

Thursday 6th July will be "Bring a Bottle to School" for all children in exchange for them being able to dress down on Friday 7th July for the Fayre.  All donations will then be used as prizes for the Tombola.  This could be ANY bottle, so whether its beer, wine, soft drinks, bubble bath, or olive oil, all donations are welcome - all we ask is that they are in date!  These will be collected by staff in the classroom on the morning.

As with any event, the Summer Fayre can only go ahead if we have enough volunteers to help out, whether this is with set up before the event, a slot on one of the stalls, or helping pack away afterwards. Please look out for the signup sheets in the next weeks.

All the money raised from these events, goes back into the school.  So far this year we have helped to subsidise the school trips, funded the new Reception garden and playground paintings and many other exciting projects around school.

If you would like to volunteer to help, please email  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

We look forward to seeing you at the Fayre.
