7-a-side Football Tournament

Sebert Wood entered an U11 Boys and U11 Girls team into the 7 a side Football Tournament on 10th November. The standard was high and both teams played well, finishing 4th overall in both competitions. Well done!

Tchoukball

Mrs Plumb accompanied a Tchoukball Team to the recent competition at King Edward School. It was great! Well done to all those who took part.

KS1 Tag Rugby - Wednesday 12th October

On Wednesday 12th October, a small group of Year 2 children attended a KS1 Tag Rugby taster event at King Edward VI Upper School. They got to practice vital skills including passing, moving in formation and avoiding the other team! The session also included a mini-match which the children enjoyed greatly. They were led by Sports Leaders from the upper school who gave important tips. It was lovely to see the children really enjoying the sport – and a special mention to Lola Broom for displaying such determination during the match!

Year 4 Kwik Cricket
Our squad enjoyed a morning of competition at BSECC Victory Ground with just two other schools competing and with Sebert Wood fielding a couple of teams. The Captains, Justin Clarke and Joseph Cocksedge, both led their teams from the front with Justin securing one win and a narrow defeat from the matches played and Joseph just beaten in both ties. Some of the children had only just become familiar with the game and this was a very useful introduction to some of the basic rules of cricket match play. Justin's team beat Hardwick in their first match with the Captain making a superb caught and bowled and hitting four 4's whilst Ashton Philpot also caught the eye with two wickets. In the other match Edward Bradshaw was the side's best bowler and James Turner impressed most with the bat. Both our teams lost their final match, Justin's to Guildhall Feoffment, the eventual winners and Joseph's to Hardwick. Thank you to the parents who transported and those who stayed to support.

U11 SSG swimming Gala First Round
We took a party of seven Year 5 swimmers to Abbeycroft Leisure in Bury and competed against five other schools. Swimming freestyle and breaststroke, our team competed strongly with second placed swims from Yasmin Johnson (25m freestyle) and Jasmin Travers (25m breaststroke) and an overall team placement of third - commendable given that we were swimming against many Year 6 children.

Tchoukball BSP Year 3/4 festival at KES Sports Dome
A squad of mainly Year 3 children took part in a BSP festival, practising their skills following participation in a school club run by Mrs Plumb and Mrs Banns. Split into two teams they played against four other schools and  thoroughly enjoyed this fast paced and strategic game. Mr Brooks, who took the children to the event, noted their teamwork and all the children felt that they had improved their game over the course of the event.

 7x7 Footbal Tournament 7 December 2015

In our final event of the Autumn Term Mrs Steven and Mr Brooks took two squads to the U11 7 v7 Football Tournament at Westley Middle School. Competing against teams comprising both Year 5 and Year 6 pupils our Year 5 boys and girls acquitted themselves extremely well. At stake for the tournament winners was a place in the Suffolk Final in January so it was a very competitive event. Our boys emerged with four draws, four defeats and one win from their matches and worked extremely hard as a team - in particular some superb keeping from Teddy Stamp and goals from Sean Whinnery and Dylan Houghton. The girls played four matches losing three and drawing one - Jasmine Travers kept goal amazingly whilst Amelia Castle scored their goal. Overall is was a great experience for our footballers and built on the Chelsea coaching clubs and regular Saturday football. Thanks as always to our parents for transport assistance and vocal support!

Girls 4x4 Football Festival

The Year 4 Girls Football Festival at Westgate Primary was supported by five schools and whilst there were no placed positions Sebert Wood acquitted themselves superbly with 4 wins, a draw and just 2 narrow defeats from seven games played. Whilst only Quinnlyn Holsinger had any significant experience, and ably led the line with a number of goals, she was assisted in attack by Jessica McLaren and Isobel  Sheppard. Defence was provided by Megan Buckle, Helena Peachey and Susie Carpenter. It was an all round team performance which did Sebert Wood proud! Many thanks to parents who helped transport and support the children.

KS2 Hockey Competition 9 November 2015

We enjoyed a successful Suffolk Schools Games Quicksticks Hockey Event at King Edwards . This was a year 5/6 event where we had year 4's and year 5's representing Sebert Wood so the results were all the more remarkable. It was a tremendous team effort and we came away with four wins, two 0-0 draws and just one loss. Ably coached by Sharon Steven, everyone contributed with goals from our attacking players Lauren Atkins, Lewis Costin and a superb performance from Joseph Cocksedge with eight!

Womens Tour of Britain 16 June 2015

Sebert Wood KS2 cricket tournament 4 June 2015

We had two teams from Sebert Wood with children from Year 3 and Year 4 and played Gt Welnetham.

In the first game we lost by four runs but in the second game we won by 36 runs! We also played the King Edward’s children in a practice after they taught us some skills.

I bowled someone out and Cameron Cross also bowled someone out.

The weather was great and we really enjoyed ourselves.
